Edge Network Requirements

🚧

Please read that carefully to prevent damage to the system

  • Don't attach any devices to the Edge, except the power supply and Ethernet
  • Don't open the Edge
  • Don't power off the device by unplugging the power supply. Use the power-off button and wait 1-2 minutes until the shutdown has completed. You can see that it's powered-off when the LED is off.
  • In cases where the upload fails or the internet connection is lost for an extended period, the Edge may cease operation.

The Edge requires a persistent Internet connection, to fulfill the following requirements:

  • Update the configuration used for the localization in the environment
  • Send information for billing purposes
  • Update the software (docker container) running on the Edge
  • Support for remote debugging

To achieve this, the Edge will connect the following IPs/ports. Contact your system administrator to make sure the Edge has a connection to the following services:

  • edge-upstream.loconiq.systems / 35.240.5.219 / Port 443 (HTTPs)
  • 35.210.119.183 / Port 1194 (VPN / UDP)
  • Google Cloud Operations for observability of the Edge’s metrics and status. IPs are unknown, as this is a fully managed Google Service, hosted in eu-west-1.
  • Google Artifact Registry (Registry for the docker container used to update the Edge). IPs are not known, as this is a fully managed Google Service, hosted in eu-west-1. The Port is 443, as HTTPS is used.
  • Ubuntu Mirrors in case an update of the Ubuntu System is happening
  • The app will connect to api.loconiq.com / 35.240.5.219 / Port 443 (HTTPs)

Basic Software running on the Edge

  • Ubuntu 22.04
  • MicroK8s (production-ready Kubernetes orchestrator)
  • OpenVPN
  • LoconIQ Software is running within a Docker container in MicroK8s
